Traveling in Jordan: Night 2: The Magic Spring of Petra

The rock that Moses struck

The forever flowing fresh water spring

After spending the day traveling through the mountains and checking out castles, we arrived in Petra at night. Before heading to our hotel, we stopped on the side of the road at a little building. Inside there was a rock and water. According to our tour guide, Moses had passed through this area, and he struck his walking stick down into the rock, causing the rock to split. After striking the rock, water began to flow from the ground, creating a fresh water spring, as pictured. The water has been flowing here for hundreds or thousands of years. We decided to be brave and drink the water from the ground. It was actually very refreshing and clean tasting, and cold as well. I figured I couldn't leave Jordan without trying the magic spring water. Anywhere really where there is water that has been flowing for some cool purpose should always be tasted. I tasted fresh spring water in Japan as well, and it was very delicious! Maybe the water will keep me young forever, or give me some extra patience when I need it the most. : )
