Ahhhhh, day 2. The real party. After waking up ready to go, we made our way out for some breakfast at an adorable place called Shakespeare's. The food was tasty, and they made some nice smoothies and milkshakes as well. We went back to the apartment, and started our pregame party. Music, drinks, Flaming Hot Cheetos (haven't had those in ages, but boy they are so yummy), and friends. We had so much fun and we hadn't even left yet. And, we got to check out our view during the daytime, which was amazing, since we were overlooking the marina, and behind us on the other side was the beach.
After a few hours of nonsense, we finally decided to make our move and head to the Atlantis Palm Hotel, which is where the Sandance Music Festival was being held. We arrived there around 4pm, when the crowd wasn't too massive, and there was plenty of space to move around and choose where exactly we would like to sit, stay, relax. We mixed our own beverages with our secret supply, and kept the party going.
The performances were really nice, and we had such a good time. The headliners of the night were Snow Patrol and Calvin Harris, along with DJ Yoda, and a few other djs and bands. At one point the night was even feeling a bit emotional. It was so awesome to think about being on the other side of the world, where I came knowing no one, and ended up traveling to another country with new friends that I had made and bonded with so much that they wanted to share this amazing experience with me. Prior to coming to Bahrain, I wasn't really sure if I would make friends that I would be this close with, and enjoy so much, so it was really moving to be a part of this.
So, moving on from the sappy stuff. Again, the night was awesome. As it went on, there were thousands and thousands of people. So many that it was hard to move through the crowd, and being that it was a beach area, it was big. But, I like a big crowd, it keeps the energy flowing, which it was being I was dancing the entire time. I danced until my hips and feet were aching.
At around 1 or 130am, we decided it was time to start moving. The festival went until 2am, but we were tired, hungry, and had lost Lauren and needed to find her (and were hoping she was back at the apartment). We got on a bus, which was quite the interesting ride. It was packed full of people (like riding the bus to Oakland on a school day), and these people were drunk, or really hungover. They were singing loudly (and very out of tune). And the lady next to me was on the verge of vomiting everywhere, so I made sure to move away from her.
Once again, we ended up going to get hamburgers (this was the late night trend in Dubai for us), and made our way back to the apartment once again. We only lasted a short while before we were all passed out from exhaustion from the day's fun. It was such a fun day, and we really did have such a fun time. All smiles!
